An official issue of the Royal Australian Mint, the 2026 Mint Set marks the most significant milestone in Australia’s currency history – the 60^th anniversary of decimalisation. Abandoning the complex system inherited from Britain, Australia converted to decimal currency in February of 1966. The RAM was established specifically to facilitate the changeover and, although the task of replacing the old coins and banknotes was immense, three years of planning and public education meant that the transition was remarkably smooth.
